Race Report: Bathurst Motor Festival – Easter Weekend 2014

Six 944 drivers, along with friends and support, headed to Bathurst over the Easter weekend to test the amazing Mount Panorama, in one of the handful of racing days on the bathurst calendar. And none of us were disappointed!
Practice sessions , Qualifying sessions and three races. (Totalling 3 hours of racing.) It proved hard to beat.
Times started in the 2minute48s and worken down to the 2:44 category, but it was only a matter of time before we started to see a near flat 2 minute 40 by Brian in the regularity event.
All three races were marred by stalled cars on the start line with a lot of minor damage to the front running cars, (they might be quick, but they must be terrible to get started) allowing a few of us at different times to sneak forward in the pack.
In typical 944 style we had the normal problems with cars with similar times, with them being fast down the straight bits and slow on the curly pieces, but the fun on this track certainly outweighed this predicted problem.
Whilst the fun is the on-track experience, (Congrats to Danny on second place in class E, just pipped on the last lap) and to the stellar effort made by Dennis just to be out on the track.
This track is probably a bucket lister for most, my advice is – don’t leave it too late, as it doesn’t seem to be getting any easier to race at this place..
Whilst you can get a lot of laps under safety due to the cement walls, all in all, nothing matches a race weekend on one of the best tracks in the world.
I haven’t posted all the results as such is the weekend, they are really not that important.. being there with friends was!!
Hope a few more can join us next year.
