2015 Presentation Night Wrap-up

2015 Presentation Night Wrap-up

Wednesday 20th of April was the night for the Annual Presentation night for the previous Seasons racing for the 944 Challenge. This year, the venue was Auscarts in Port Melbourne, where 29 drivers jumped into the karts for some fun before dinner and Trophy Presentation for the 2015 Award Winners commenced.

The form from the 2015 season continued on for the karts, with Lee Partridge winning the Consolation final, and Cameron Beller taking out the main final after a late race pass of Adam Mills on a restart, leading a very close quartet which also consisted of ex 944, and current Porsche Carrera Cup Dylan O’Keeffe, and ex-karter, and Son/Nephew of current 944 Drivers Tony & Michael Westaway – Jamie Westaway who will be making his debut in the Formula Ford category at Phillip Island.

It showed the advantage that weight (or lack of it) makes a difference especially on underpowered karts on a tight and twisty track.. rumours that the combined weight of the top 4 drivers was less than 100kg dripping weight may have been a bit tongue in cheek, but not that far wide of the mark!

After Dinner the Trophies were handed out – starting off with Mark Taubitz who won the ‘Most Improved’ Award – a much better season in 2015 after the dramas of 2014 including a Damaged Engine followed up by a big crash at Sandown.

Rookie of the Year was a very deserving Lee Partridge – getting the #27 Porsche much higher than it ever probably should have been, including taking out one round at Phillip Island. Lee also took home the Trophy for the 3rd place finish for the season.

Cam 2 Cam 1

Cam Beller accepted his trophy for second overall  after a fantastic season in the 2015 944 Challenge.

Adam 1 Adam 2

Adam Mills accepted his Winner trophy, as well as custody of the Perpetual 944 Challenge trophy for 2015. Unfortunately for Adam, he will have to hand that back come the 2016 Award Presentation as he won’t be back until later in the season, where surely even a miracle will prevent him from being able to go back-to-back.

Top 3

The Top 3 Placegetters for 2015!

A great night was had by all, and a great turnout of members, crew and family which was great to see!
